Rana Pratap fought for his freedom to his last breath. The battle of Haldi Ghati, in which he fought and faced the vast Mughal army, shall forever remain carved in the memory of people. Though he lost his kingdom, he refused to accept Mughal Supremacy. He slept on the floor, ate coarse food and wandered across the forests of Aravalli Hills, but never accepted suzerainty of Emperor Akbar. It is true that Maharana Pratap could not defeat the Mughals or regain his kingdom.
